PE Service Pipe Disconnection

Abstract

The PE Service Pipe disconnection development project aims to produce a product and technique which can safely, successfully and efficiently disconnect PE Service Pipes from an external Emergency Control Valve (ECV) following meter removal. This solution aims to prevent the inconvenience, risks, and additional costs associated with traditional excavation methods.

The project will develop new learning associated with the performance of foam isolation within PE pipe materials and on smaller diameter pipes. Although the challenge is led by Cadent, it is being collaboratively developed with the support of all gas distribution networks. The new technique will be subject to evaluation and review, allowing for the sharing of technical assessments, user acceptance testing, and project closure details
