A new and efficient way of detecting CO exposure

Abstract

Working in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University, this research project will aim to identify, via a Proof-of-Concept model, a new biomarker for Carbon Monoxide (CO) exposure that is sensitive to lower exposures, persists in biofluids for longer than Carboxyhaemoglobin (COHb), and can be measured using a Lateral Flow Test (LFT). Alongside this research, the project will also carry out engagement with local communities in an information campaign and determine their attitude to a LFT for CO exposure.

The project will aim to provide insight into customers affected by this issue. The learnings from this could not only aid Cadent, and potentially all other network operators and energy suppliers, in supporting these consumers but can also feed into wider discussions around how industry governance mechanisms can be refined, so that these customers can be better supported.

All appropriate reports will be published on the Future Energy Network Portal.
