Open Maps

Abstract

There is currently no method for organisations to easily know where to target their work based on feedback from third sector organisations and public bodies. Creating a map of current actual need, which also shows where delivery has happened and is planned will be game changing for both customers and funding organisations as it will ensure work is carried out where there is absolute tangible need rather than modelled demand. It will also allow on the ground resource to sign post their service users to the most effective method of support. Open Maps enables GDPR compliant data sharing – vital to unlocking important insights that can change the lives of vulnerable customers and help organisations to make better business decisions.

The new communities built by this phase of the project will offer the opportunity for unique insight into partners’ customer base not currently available through any other method. For example, knowing the number of calls Citizen’s Advice receive about fuel debt gives energy networks visibility of where communities are financially vulnerable, and data from third sector organisations such as Marie Curie provide information about where customers are medically dependant on energy before they appear on a PSR. Moreover, it enables organisations to target their work to meet the most in need as reported by on the ground organisations, as well as demonstrate the necessity of their work and justify the areas they have already worked in.

The generative AI interface also offers the opportunity to learn how ML-to-SQL models can be used to interrogate internally held data to provide insights to other users within the business who would not normally have the contextual knowledge or expertise to understand it.
